Questo confronto fotogrfico ha la finalità di aiutare a far chiarezza sulla distinzione tra queste due sottospecie per le quali c'è molta confusione, vista la mancanza di letteratura in merito e soprattutto per la mancanza di immagini.

Infatti la tendenza è di considerare genericamente con Ph. Geoffroanus entrambe le sottospecie, che in realtà hanno differnze morfologiche ben distinte come si può notare qui sotto:
